about us
Zia Tile was founded on a love for all things handmade. We celebrate the individual, wholly unique character of every piece of tile we sell. The nature of that tile is a reflection of the places and cultures in which they're made.
Born out of an adventure in Vietnam, founders Danny and Mike first discovered cement tiles boundless potential in the streets of Hanoi, and as designers, they recognized the near infinite variety of pattern and color combinations. Vietnam is a country that stands at the intersection of a multitude of cultures, and that manifests in incredible food, architecture, and the world's finest encaustic cement tile.
From those roots, zellige was a natural next step. Our passion for zellige is fired in the ancient earthen kilns of Morocco, where our perfectly imperfect tile is made
by hand, in a tradition that predates our own nation by 600 years. Another country of cultural dynamism, Morocco blends islamic, berber, and Mediterranean histo
ries that are so clearly evident in the ancient and profoundly beautiful tradition of zellige From the complex mosaics of Islamic mosques to the homes of Yves Saint
Laurent and the jewel toned walls of Hérmes, the peal of zellige transcends the uniformity of mass produced, generic tile; it's what sets Moroccan zellige apart.
Zia Tile's mission is and will always be, to make authentic, handmade tile accessible to as many people as possible; that's why our prices are the most competitive
in the country. Our growing team is made up of artists and entrepreneurs and the creative spirit drives every decision we make.
We promote a philosophy that is imbued in everything we do at Zia Tile; do what you love with people you love
